Who this is

Epicurus College is a small, self-paced philosophy course project. This policy covers the account and course data collected through this Moodle site (epicuruscollege.com), operated by Cassius Amicus. Questions or requests about your data can be sent to cassius@epicureanfriends.com.

What we collect

• Account information: the name and email address you provide when you register.
• Course activity: which book chapters you've viewed, your lesson self-test and quiz answers and scores, and your completion status.
• Discussion forum posts: anything you post in a course forum is visible to other participants in that course, and is reviewed by our Teaching Assistants and Leadership Team as part of normal moderation. Private messages between users are not routinely reviewed by staff, except as needed to look into a reported problem.
• Application emails: if you write to us to apply for Registered Student status, that email is handled in a personal mailbox, separately from the Moodle platform itself.

How we use it

To run the course: track your progress, grade self-tests and quizzes, issue completion certificates, and communicate with you about your account or application. We do not sell your information or share it with advertisers or other third parties for marketing.

Completion certificates are semi-public

If you earn a completion certificate, its record (your name, the course, your score, and the date) is listed in a certificate registry visible to any other logged-in user of the site — not the general public, but not private to only you and staff either.

Cookies and external services

We use only the session cookie necessary to keep you logged in. Page typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which may see your IP address when a page loads, the same as any site using that service. We do not run advertising or analytics trackers.

Data retention and deletion

As the platform is still being actively developed, course content and, occasionally, test data may be reset. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted entirely, email us and we will do so.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, you'll be asked to review and re-agree to it the next time you log in.
